MailChimp Volunteers Lend Helping Hands at re:loom Weavehouse
Over a dozen MailChimp employees recently volunteered at the re:loom worksite to help prepare spare MailChimp t-shirts to become a striking handwoven rug for their new offices at Ponce City Market. Various MailChimp employees‚ including designers, technical writers, and customer service agents‚ received a quick lesson on the complicated skill set of weaving before they started cutting the t-shirts into strips which the weaver will then transform into the new rug.
“MailChimp loves Atlanta and we love the
organizations who work to make Atlanta better,” said Meg Lindsay, MailChimp’s Production Coordinator and the organizer of the donation and work day. “We wanted to do something productive with our excess shirts, and re:loom was able to turn them into something beautiful and useful through a combination of environmental service, artistic ingenuity and employing the homeless. The afternoon spent learning about weaving and cutting up t-shirts was so much fun, and all of us who went were so grateful to meet the weavers and see how re:loom contributes to their well-being.”
Your donations of funds, textiles, household items and time can make a difference in the lives of homeless and struggling families. Please give generously today. All contributions of cash and goods are tax deductible.
